Edgewater College

Community Tumuaki update | Tuesday 31 January 2023

Kia ora koutou

Thank you for your understanding as we again show our school values in action and respond to the latest challenges that Auckland is facing.  This is our opportunity to truly show manaakitanga as we work to support those most impacted by the devasting floods across Auckland and beyond.

Start to the school year

At this stage we are planning to start school for all students on Tuesday 7th of February at 9 am. We will be in touch directly if any requirements from the Ministry of Education lead to a change in this date.

Tuesday 7 February

All Year 9 students should report to the school hall ready for a prompt 9 am start.  Your Dean and Mentor teachers will be there to meet you and welcome you to Edgewater College.

All Year 10 students should report to the library ready for a prompt 9 am start.

All Year 11 to 13 students should go straight to their Mentor class, again ready for a 9 am start.  We will have staff outside the Deans / SLT area to help you as you arrive for any classes with new Mentor teachers.

All new students (Years 10 to 13) to Edgewater College should report to the main reception area where staff/student leaders will help you find your Mentor class.

School uniform

We understand that the disruptions this week may mean that some students will be unable to be in the correct school uniform for next Tuesday.

We will try to open the uniform shop on Thursday this week as planned from 8 am to 12 pm.  This is of course weather dependent.  We will let you know if this is happening via social media.

The uniform shop will also be open next week during the following times for you to purchase items:

  • Tuesday 7 February: 8 am to 12 pm
  • Wednesday 8 February: 8 am to 12 pm
  • Thursday 9 Feb: 8 am to 12 pm

Please don’t worry if you have not been able to get full correct uniform for next week.  We ask that you please wear plain comfortable clothing, and we will work with you and your family to get your uniform sorted next week.   It is most important that we see you here at school!

School lunches

Free school lunches will be available for all students from Tuesday 7 February.

Enrolments for this year

Given that we are currently physically closed the best way to enrol your in-zone child is online.   Please go to https://kamar.edgewater.school.nz/index.php/enrolment.  Out-of-zone places are dependent on spaces in each year level – please complete an online enrolment form and we will be in touch.

Support

Please know that for those of you directly impacted by the storm we are here to help in any way we can.   I have put contact details below for our Year Level Deans and Senior Leaders so you can get in touch if there is anything we as a school can do to support you and your whānau.
