Unfortunately, myself and the Board have had to make the difficult decision to roster home individual year levels of students this week as we are unable to staff the school due to significant staff illness. Please know we did not take this decision lightly, however approx. 15 of our staff are away ill for all or most of this week, and we only have 2 relief teachers available. We are actively trying to recruit more relief teachers and should the situation change as the week progresses I will update you and stop the rostering home immediately.
At this stage we will need to roster home the following year levels:
Tuesday 15 August (tomorrow) – Year 10
Wednesday 16 August – Year 11
Thursday 17 August – Year 12
Friday 18 August – Year 13
This means we will be unable to provide either supervision or learning onsite for those particular year levels on those days. Work will be available for all classes the students would have had via the students’ google classrooms and / or email.
Again my sincere apologies that it has come to this, we certainly have tried everything we can to employ more staff, however the bugs that are also impacting on student attendance are affecting our staff as well. Your support in ensuring you contact us if your child is unwell and so unable to attend school is also greatly appreciated!
As mentioned above, my hope is that we will not need to proceed with all of these dates this week. I will be in touch immediately if we are able to cancel the rostering home.
