Tumuaki update | Important dates for Term 3

Please be advised of the following key dates and notices for your information.

Staff Only Days

NCEA Staff Only Day | Monday 22 August

Edgewater College will be closed for instruction on Monday 22 August for a NCEA Staff Only Day. This is to allow all staff to participate in NCEA Professional Development. There will be no school on this day for students. 

Please note that this means Friday 26 August we will be open for instruction for all students from Years 9 to 13.  They will be following their normal Monday timetable on that day, starting with Mentor time at 9.00 am.

School events this term

Senior Assessment Week | 19 to 23 September

During this week, senior students will focus on completing NCEA internal assessments and practice external examinations. MCAT is on Tuesday 13 September and DCAT is on Monday 26 September. 

Language weeks

Tonga Language week

Edgewater will celebrate Tonga Language week from 5 to 9 September.

Tuvalu Language week

Edgewater will celebrate Tuvalu Language week from 26 to 30 September.

Other notices

Board of Trustees

The board election is taking place now. Everyone who appears on our parent roll will have received by post a voting paper/return envelope. Please make sure you have voted and returned your voting paper by post or to the ballot box located in our school office. Voting closes on 7 September.

Student Enrolments for 2023

Please enrol now via our online enrolment form. Access to this can be found on our website/Enrolments page. The closing date for out of zone applications is Wednesday 7 September.

Dental Planet

We will be hosting the mobile dental van here onsite at Edgewater College from Monday 12 September for two weeks. During this time the dental technicians will be following up and checking on our students’ teeth. If you would like to make an appointment for your child please go to https://dentalplanet.co.nz/ 

End of Term 3

Students last day for learning onsite is Wednesday 28 September.  We will then hold two Mentor Days on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 September.   During these two days students and whānau will have the opportunity to meet with Mentor teachers and discuss their ownership of learning and academic progress to date.

Engagement updates

Parents and students will receive our ‘traffic light report’ on a three week cycle this term so you can track engagement across the learning areas.

It is important that all learners are here at school on time each day to ensure they can achieve academic success and participate fully in school life.  Please find below the start times for each day of learning here at Edgewater College.  Your support in ensuring that you / your child is here on time and ready to learn each day would be greatly appreciated.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9.00 am start

Wednesday, Friday: 9.30 am start
