Kia ora koutou
As you are most likely aware there is one confirmed case of COVID-19 in Auckland today. As a result, the Government announced at 6.10 pm that all of New Zealand will move from Alert Level 1 to Alert Level 4 for the next 3 days from 11.59 pm tonight. Those of us in Auckland are expected to be at Alert Level 4 for the next 7 days, including areas of the Coromandel.
Fortunately, we did have some warning of this and so took the precaution of issuing devices to all students at school this afternoon so they are ready for distance learning. Unfortunately, at Alert Level 4 we are unable to distribute any further devices and so we will be providing alternative work for any students without a device via the google spreadsheet – please look at the ‘offline / no device tasks’ column.
That means that school will be closed to all students and staff from tomorrow. We will be activating our distance learning plan via the google spreadsheet, as we did when we have been in previous lockdowns. A link will be sent out to all students as soon as it has been updated and learning will continue from Thursday 19 August. As in previous lockdowns, our priority will remain student and staff wellbeing and then learning, and then continuing with assessment where possible.
School timetable during lockdown
From Thursday 19 August our adapted school timetable will be:
- 9.30 – 10.00 am – Session 1
- 10.30 – 11.00 am – Session 2
- 11.30 – 12.00 pm – Session 3
Afternoons are for independent work for students and for staff preparation/marking/feedback time.
First and foremost, we want to stay connected to all our students during this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch via your child’s Mentor Teacher or Dean if required.

I will be in touch again tomorrow with the link for distance learning and any further updates.
