We are pleased to be able to introduce the new Principal of Edgewater College to you.Ms Louise Addison comes to us with over twenty years teaching experience and has worked in a wide variety of schools including senior leadership roles over the past eight years at Howick College and McAuley High School.
Louise is currently Associate Principal at Howick College where she has established the highly successful Innovation Stream – an integrated programme focused on developing future innovators, entrepreneurs and change leaders. As Deputy Principal at McAuley High School, she led significant improvements in NCEA achievement. This was preceded by three years as an advisor in the Mathematics and Digital Learning areas.
Louise describes herself as a teacher at heart and is passionate about the craft of teaching. She was awarded the Ernest Duncan Award for her outstanding contribution to the classroom teaching of Mathematics in 2005, and the Jim Campbell award for teaching excellence in 2011. She sees her overarching role as a leader as inspiring and supporting a community of passionate teaching and learning.
Outside of the classroom Louise has coached, managed and been the statistician for a wide range of netball teams and coached a number of Future Problem Solving and Community Problem Solving teams to National and International Championship level. Her interests outside of school include enjoying time with her family, exploring New Zealand and the world through travel and playing squash.
Louise is passionate about developing schools that prepare students for tomorrow’s world, with a particular interest in the development of teaching and learning practice that leads to meaningful learning and achievement for all ākonga. She is very excited about this opportunity to serve the Edgewater College community.
