INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CONTRACT
between the Parents
and
Edgewater College

(Parental Contract)

We are pleased that you are thinking about sending your son/daughter to study in New Zealand and wish you luck with the application.

Before the application is processed, we require that you fully understand the requirements of a Student Visa/Permit to study at Edgewater College. Please read the following conditions and sign that you have understood and that you are in agreement with these requirements. Your son/daughter must also read and sign that they understood these conditions.

Your son/daughter must prove that he/she is a "serious" student by keeping to the following requirements:

He/she must:
  1. Attend at least 85% of the course enrolled in. He/she must attend all lessons and be on time. He/she must be ready to apply yourself fully to all schoolwork.

  2. Agree to co-operate with the staff and to accept the authority and rules of conduct of the school as set out in discipline structures within the school.

  3. Stay in a homestay approved by Edgewater College for the length of your visa/permit. All international students attending colleges/high schools in New Zealand are not permitted to be in a flatting situation, regardless of their age. They must have adult supervision at all times.

  4. Have an English speaking parental representative who has been designated by, and to act on your behalf in New Zealand. This parental representative must be easily accessible at anytime to help the student or school should the need arise. It is expected that this person will meet or be in contact with the Director of International Students at least once a term and will continue to be your parental representative until the expiry date of your visa/permit.

  5. Have the Code of Conduct School Rules signed by your parental representative.

  6. Inform Edgewater College of any sickness, behavioural problems, disability or special education needs before enrolment.

  7. Not take extra time away from school unless authorised by the School Principal if he/she returns to his/her home country during the set school holidays. [The 85% attendance rule applies here also].

  8. Not return to his/her home country before the end of the school year having completed all course work and taken the appropriate examinations.

  9. Prove that he/she has adequate medical and personal loss insurance throughout his/her stay in New Zealand.

  10. Meet the conditions of New Zealand Immigration Service student visa/permit requirements.

  11. Inform Edgewater College if any contact details change i.e. parents address/ telephone number etc.

  12. His/her student/visa permit will be issued for Edgewater College. He/she may not transfer to another school until that visa/permit expires or is changed.

Edgewater College strongly advises International Students not to own or drive a car while at secondary school in New Zealand. New Zealand Government statistics show that up to 90% of young drivers are involved in road accidents in the first year of driving a motor vehicle.

The Director of International Students reserves the right to accept or decline an application if he/she feels that the student will not successfully integrate into Edgewater College.

Please complete the following details:

I have appointed the following New Zealand citizen to act as my son/daughter's Parental Representative while at Edgewater College.  I acknowledge that he/she will undertake this responsibility for the entire course of study:
